How the answers are built
Each chapter opens with the checklist the question is really testing. A few from this pack:
Cost to company is an employer total, so employer provident fund, gratuity accrual and insurance sit inside it while your take-home does not.
Take-home is monthly gross minus your employee provident fund contribution, professional tax, tax deducted at source and any voluntary deductions, with provident fund computed on basic rather than on total gross.
Provident fund contributions are split between you and the employer, and only the employer's share and the qualifying portion of yours reduce your taxable income.
Group medical cover is usually written as a family floater, so the real question is not whether you are covered but which dependents the policy admits.
Write down three numbers before the call: a reservation figure, a target and a stretch figure, because a target chosen in the moment is a number chosen under pressure.
A joining bonus is a one-off payment with a condition attached, so the amount matters less than the trigger, the payment date and the clawback terms.
Questions this pack covers
What is the difference between cost to company and the salary that reaches my account?
Which parts of a cost to company are fixed and which are variable?
How do I calculate my take home pay from my gross salary?
What is the difference between the old and the new tax regime?
What is the difference between my provident fund contribution and the employer's?
How is the pension part of my provident fund contribution calculated?
How do I check whether the group health cover includes my dependents?
What is the difference between ESIC and a private health insurance policy?
Each one is answered in full in the pack, with the reasoning written out rather than a bullet list.
